12-18-2007 Merry Christmas! Yes, I said "Merry Christmas!"
All of this talk about Christmas not being said is really bothering the heck out me. Who do
these people think they are by saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas? Do they not
know the true meaning of Christmas? Get off of your high horse and say the words Merry
Christmas. Why must we bow down to the people who want to change Christmas? As far as I am
concerned, Christ was around way before these "happy holidays" people were. Let's see and
hear Merry Christmas more! It's a gift that we all were given so let's not toss it away.
12-18-2007 Merry Christmas! Part II
Did you hear about these towns banning Christmas trees, Santa and the ideas surrounding
Christmas? It appears that some people seem to be offended by Christmas so town mayors are
changing the Christmas theme. We're talking about Holiday Trees and Spirit Trees instead of
Christmas Trees! This is all because of a couple of people who don't celebrate Christmas. You
know, I respect someone else’s belief but keep your belief out of our tradition. How about the
hundreds of other people who do celebrate Christmas? Do we penalize them for believing in
Christmas just to satisfy a couple of people? Maybe these "happy holidays" people can get
the mayors to lower taxes. Do they have that much pull in our Christmas society?
Let's keep the Merry Christmas coming! This is tradition and this is a blessing. Merry
Christmas to all!
08-24-2007 Fun With a Stick
There are a lot of fun things you can do with just a plain ole' stick. You can poke, pry,
beat, throw, toss, juggle, make it float, pretend it's a sword, use it as a baton, pretend
it's a gun, use it for fire, possibly eat it if you're really hungry and break it when
you're mad. I like the long sticks where sometimes you can pretend that you are a pole
vaulter. Will it break if I try to run with it and "stick" it in the ground? See, there are
a lot of things that you can do with a stick. Try it out. Give it a whirl. You'll never know
how much fun you can have with a stick unless you pick one up and become friends with it.
Here's to you Mr. Stick!
08-24-2007 Singles to Go
I live off those "singles to go" drink mixes. They're the greatest ever! I love the Wyler's
Light drink mixes, especially the cool raspberry and the pink lemonade. Only 5 calories and the
flavor is plentiful. But I learned not to use the expensive bottled water for these flavorful
friends because the flavor sucks. Just mere tap water is all you need and you can never go
wrong. Grab a box and give it a try. Deliciousness in every pack!
08-07-2007 It's Too Hot Outside
When your rear view mirror falls off while you're driving, it's too hot outside. 100 degrees
on pure heat is not what we intended for the summer but hey, it is summer. Beaches, cold
drinks, summer heat, they all coincide with a great season. Now I look forward to the autumn
weather; the brisk smell, the leaves changing to a rustic brown shade and the aroma of winter
right around the corner. A little too deep in thought? I don' think so. Summer is fun but man
is it ever so hot. I don't like to feel like a human popsicle when I step outside for a few
minutes. I'm just waiting for my grass to die so that I don't have to go out and cut it.
It's too hot! Pass around a little A/C and blow up the inflatable pool cause we need to cool
off. It's too HOT!
07-14-2007 Here in Lynchburg
The bars are big, really big deep in the heart of Lynchburg! What a great town. Just like Brad
sang, "Since the day I left Milwaukee, Lynchburg, Bordeaux, France. Straight from the voice
of John, "pppppffffttttt". Lynchburg, WE LOVE YOU GUYS! Thanks as always for the support and
the great times.
Last night we thrilled the Short Pump Town Center patrons with a 2 hour show. The lawn was
packed with chairs and blankets and we packed the stage with our great tunes. Thanks to Choice
Entertainment and Short Pump Town Center for having us again for the 3rd year in the row. What
a great time! Party on Short Pump and have one on us!
We're off on vacation next week; Disney World, Mrytle Beach and Nags Head. We can't wait to
spend a little R&R with our loved ones. Have a vacation of your own and enjoy wherever you go.
See you in August! CC
07-14-2007 What's That Smelll?
Something smells really bad in here. It's either Mark's shoes or the porta-john but we don't
want to know which. John says Febreeze it!
07-02-2007 The Absolute Worst Candy Ever!
Alright, I think I ate the worst piece of candy ever yesterday while I was out shopping. First
off, my wife, my son and I were shopping for a birthday card and a gift for a wedding so this
classifies as a "man shopping day". Nothing too weird about that. Anyhow, I purchased this
candy because the box looked really great and it seemed interesting enough to warrant a taste.
It was an apple based candy with chocolate and walnuts. That sounded really appealing! The
old-fashioned brown box was nicely printed with western lettering to give it that classic
appeal. Still sounds great! Alright, so after the purchase I quickly ran outside of the store
and began to open the package wildly. First the celaphane, then the cover and then the piece
of loose paper covering the goodies. "What in the heck is this," I said to myself. The
candy, I guess it was candy, looked like little square pieces of jelly. Okay, well here goes
nothing. One pop in the mouth and a few chews later the candy went down in a very unfamiliar
way. It was absolutely disgusting! I have never tasted something so gross and inconsistent in
all my life. Wow, this was defintely a bad candy experience. Needless to say the rest of the
candy was given as a birthday gift. Enjoy!
07-01-2007 What a Fantastic Weekend
Wow, we had such a great weekend of playing music, meeting new fans and just having fun doing
what we do best. Friday night was home to Bahama Joe's and it was a record breaking crowd.
Yeah, it got a little hot but everyone stayed until the joint closed. After the show, the
aroma of the party-goers was still in the air. The came the rain. It rained and rained and
rained. Well, we do need the rain here in Richmond.
Saturday was a different story in itself. We go from a club hopping experience to a more
milder and tame family reunion. But this was no ordinary family union. This was a family
reunion at it's best! The location; The Jefferson Hotel. The theme; country and western. The
entertainment; line dancing, square dancing, jugglers, magicians, clowns and Cedar Creek on
the big stage. This sort of reminded us of the Brook and Dunn tour a few years back when they
had the circus theme. It was an amazing time! Though we didn't get a chance to see Gene
Simmons, he was in town and staying at The Jefferson, we did see some good ole' fashion
square dancing. Gene Simmons or square dancing; nothing compares to square dancing Gene.
Thanks to Becky and Don and the rest of the family for a great evening. It was a night to
remember for a lot of people.
05-17-2007 Good Day All
Good Day to all. By the way, where did the phrase come from, "Good Day"? Why does it have to
be a good day? Is it there much good in your life to warrant a good day to a fellow traveler?
How about the other person receiving the "Good Day"? Do you ever think that the receiver may
not want to hear the words "Good Day"? Maybe they are having the worst day in their life and
want nothing more than for you to shut up with your good days. Just a thought. Good Day!
04-25-2007 What a Great Start!
Coffee, now that's the everyday pick me up. There's nothing like it. Music, that's our
everyday pick me up. And when the music is played well, it's sheer bliss. The better the
music, the happier the people. It's all about the fantastic pick me ups. If you ever find
yourself starting out a little slower than usual, count on two things; coffee and music. It's
like peanut butter and jelly. They go well together.
We've been having some great times with new shows. Just this past weekend we performed in
Maryland with a FANTASTIC Eagles tribute band, Tequila Sunrise. We sold so much merchandise
that we are plum out of stuff. But no worries, we are designing new shirts now!
Have a cup of coffee and some music. We'll talk to you soon again, ;o)
03-12-2007 The Future is Right in Front of You
How is everyone doing out there in computer land? We're having a great time here on our end.
It's been an interesting couple of months. We're trying to get our originals worked up for
the fans and just trying out a few new avenues for the band (a few rock tunes, a few acoustic
tunes and a few dance moves). Well, dance moves are yet to be seen but they are there. We
appreciate all of the e-mails from you guys and want to continue to bring the best show
possible wherever we go. Those kind of things really help us to strive for the best. That and
the fact that some of our friends are doing real well in the biz liuke Cody McCarver. He's a
great talent with a great song and video; Red Flag. That's talent! The future is right in
front of you!
01-20-2007 Fishin' in Moorehead City
Catching the sun peeking through the curtains when it's 7 in the morning is tortue enough. We
just got back into the room a few hours ago after finishing our first night at the Midnight
Rodeo. What a cool place; and the people really dig the country sound. It's the off-season
but we're making every effort to enjoy the scenery, the fine cuisine and the beach front
property (we'll have pics up soon). It's a breath of fresh air when you can just sit back in
your room and watch the ships sail on by. Aw, the beauty of the ocean; the sights and smells.
We're just fishin' in the city trying to pick up some cool items but for some reason or
another we always find ourselves back in our hometown; Wal-Mart. Yeah, it's a quick fix for
the eager buyer and this Wal-Mart had a few neat Carolina items; tiny ships in a bottle and
other beach releated merchandise. Yeah, back at Wal-Mart. Who could complain at a store that
has it all. At least we stopped at a Wings on the way back to the room.
Aw, the ocean life. Pop in a jimmy Buffett tune, grab yourself a cool drink and sip slowly.
Yeah, it's the off-season but it's still the ocean. Join us next time here in Moorehead City
when we bring you part II of our series (it may be beach weather by then). So long and set sail
for another day!
12-01-2006 Is It Really December in Virginia?
What in the world is going on with the weather around here in Virginia? Here it is on a Friday,
80 degrees!! Break out the plastic pool for a day and turn the A/C to full blast. Weather
around these parts is just plain weird. Now granted when the snow falls the schools close for
the week. And we're only talking a couple of inches!
This is Jimmy Buffett's weather; Cheeseburger in Paradise we are. Enjoy the warm sunshine
while you can here in Virginia because colder weather is sure to come soon. I can't imagine
having Christmas in a pair of Speedos and a tank top. And I'm talking about Uncle Bubba! You
gotta love Uncle Bubba. This is the guy who slid down the chimney a few years ago, playing
Santa Clause, and got stuck 2 times! The first time was when he started out on top of the
chimney and before re-thinking his decision he slowly descended the chimney again. Poor Uncle
Bubba. A chimney is not a place for a 6'3" 275 pound, beer drinking and chicken loving man.
Gotta love Uncle Bubba!
Break out the tiki torches and fire up the grill because a day on the beach is here in
Virginia! Have fun and keep the sand out of your shorts people.
11-15-2006 Hug a Stranger Week
Wouldn't the world be a better place if we all went out for a day and hugged complete
strangers? Or maybe the world would be a better place without you if you actually did it.
We dedicate this week; Hug a Stranger Week.
Brought to you by our loving friend; garlic.
11-12-2006 The End is Near
Man, time just seems to fly by without warning. Pretty soon we'll be breaking out the snow
shoes, heavy coats and hot chocolate. And yeah, singing those fantastic Christmas carols that
we always love. We're asking Santa for some new gear and some great shows for 2007. Santa
always comes through for us. We've got to believe in something during the holiday season.
Let's reflect, shall we? Some exciting things seemed to happen this year with us; a lot of
radio play, new friends in John Anderson, Steve Holy, Hot Apple Pie, Confederate Railroad,
Josh Turner and just pleasin' our fans with hard work and dedication. Don't worry because
we've got more to come in 2007! New original songs are in the works and we're almost ready
to record some of your new favorite Cedar Creek songs. Just you wait and see. It's going to
be a great start to a wonderful year.
I think we may start a fad. I'm not sure what we should do but we're going to start a fad.
Something that we will be famous for years to come. We want people to say. "Hey! That's
Cedar Creek's thing so you can't do it!" Maybe a new dance or perhaps a new hand shake. How
about getting on stage with just our underwear and cowboy hats. Now that would be something.
Fads always work for the superstars. Just look at Vanilla Ice. Well, that's a bad comparison.
Got to love one of the first white rappers! What do you call a white rapper; a whapper? Just a
suggestion.
So in all honesty, the end of 2007 is near. Days fly by without warning and we all seem to be
holding the trash bag after the garbage has been collected. What in the world are we saying!
Don't mind us, we are just craving the Crhistmas carols and hot cocoa. And some turkey as
well. There's nothing like a huge slab of turkey covered with gravy and then the sweet
potatos! Got to love the gravy.
We're going to be in a movie! Well, it could happen.
10-18-2006 Just Another Day in the Life of a Rock Star
Life has it's ups and downs and everything in between so we always take it in stride with
anything that we do. From people singing our original music at shows to fans asking for
autographs while we're dining at a restaurant, you never know what will happen when you're
in public view but it's always mind-boggling and amazing when things like that happen.
Fans always say that our music touches their hearts and that they can relate to 1 or more
original songs that we perform. When you know you have reached into someone's soul and pulled
out what they were feeling you come to realize that the music you perform is all worth it.
That's power. That's strength. That's music.
We're not comparing ourselves to the likes of Rascal Flatts or Tim McGraw because man,
they're way up there on the ladder of greatness. We're just a few rungs short of the top but
hey, we're enjoying the climb. We meet a lot of intersting people on our musical path but none
that we would ever say, "Man, what a complete nut." There are nuts out there but they need
music too. They probably need a hug. And a friend. But the people we meet, other artists,
fans, adult beverage consumers, are pretty cool in their own rights. We give some of these
people names so that when we perform at the same venue we know who that person is. There's
nothing bad about the names, they're just little reminders we give ourselves when we may meet
the person again in the future. It helps us remember and pass the time.
Stardom is overrated. A lot of people think it's easy being a star. We're not quite stars
but let us tell you; it's a lot of hard work, dedication and Burger Kings (then it's off to
the gym). Be a star and shine!
08-11-2006 That's so Cool!
You know what's so cool? It's when you're riding to the next gig, turn on the radio and
there is your song on the playing or when you're riding to the next gig and someone on the
highway starts honking their horn and holding up their Cedar Creek CD because they recognize
you (it could also be the trailer that has Cedar Creek painted on the side in big letters).
Whatever it is, these things are pretty cool when you're trying to bring great music to the
audience. Keep the requests coming to your local station because we're ready to hit them all!
So cool!
07-31-2006 Happy July and Stuff
Here's a towel for all those sweaty foreheads out there. Man, what a heat wave we are having
here in Virginia. This ain't no Arizona but it sure does feel like it. With temperatures
soaring into the 100's please take care of your health and your chocolate bars. Melted candy
makes a very sticky situation (drum noise here please).
It's the end of vacation season for us and we're heading back out for shows in Virginia,
Maryland, North Carolina and wherever else that we are needed. It's like schools back in
session. We took off for about a week, had some fun and now we're ready to rock and roll
again. We'll see you at a show soon!
06-30-2006 What Some Good Times!
Here we are at the end of June. Half of the year is already gone. Man, does time fly or what!
It seems like each year just runs together. 2 years equal 1 year and 40 is the new 30. Ain't
it all the truth. Where do we go to petition for more hours in a day because we believe that
would give everyone a fighting chance to do more.
The summer has really kicked off well for us. We had some great fun at Harborblast in Colonial
Heights, VA. followed by more fun in Williamsburg, VA. for the James City County Fair,
Fredericksburg, VA. for the Big Boy Toy Show sponsored by WFLS (man, did it rain after the
show) and at Short Pump Town Center (What a fantastic crowd! It was the largest one yet.) June
in a nutshell I guess.
Stay cool and come on out to a great show or two. We've got more coming to a town near you.
Spread the word and keep on track. There's nothing like great country music to get your feet
moving.
05-27-2006 It's Going to be a Hot One!
It's 10am and there's nothing more reaxing then a nice hot shower at the Days Inn. We forgot
to put up the Do Not Disturb Sign on the door so we're up a little earlier than usual. No
worries though, a few hours sleep is better than nothing especially when your in Farmville,
Virginia and at the comforrts of a great hotel. We may even be able to make breakfast! That
would be a rare event.
What a great couple of weeks. Last week we traveled to Maryland to perform with The Little
River Band and then it was off to Virginia Beach for an exciting performance with just us and
Dodd's RV. Last week was filled with a little zap, bam and boom. We have no idea what that
means. Thanks for all of the supporters (people not garmennts) that came out to both shows and
we would love to thank Grady, WAAI 100.9 FM (Shane, Troy and JD) in Maryland and also Dodd's
RV for taking such great care of us. You da man Grady! We dig the huge truck!!
Again, we are in the glories of our hotel rooms taking every bit of rest that we can get.
We're getting ready to head to Lynchburg for an evening show and then on to Maryland for an
afternoon show. No sleep for the strong! It's all fun and work for the CC crew. Hands off the
donuts!
Mullligan's, thanks fo the great times andd of course to our friends, Sherry and Larry at
WVHL 92.9 FM "Kickin' Country" for the great hospitality. You guys know how to treat
artists like us. Oh yeah, thanks also goes out to our sponsor Sam Ash and Days Inn (only for
the weekend but we would love it to be for the year!). Without these two great companies we
would be, well, I hav no idea where we would be.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone and please give your support to our troops overseas
and back here in the states. We wouldn't be doing what we are doing now if it wasn't for
great American soldiers. God Bless them all!
05-12-2006 So Far, So Good and So Much Fun!
So what's up everyone? We've had such a blast for the past few weeks performing in North
Carolina and Virginia. We've been hearing a lot of requests for our songs on the radio in
these states and want to thank everyone. Continue to call your local station and request some
CC. We cannot be more apprectiative!
Let's see, where do we begin. Arizona Pete's was a hit in April for us. Imagine cramming 5
bowling balls in a paper bag from the supermarket. That was the crowd. Now imagine the crowd
screaming, having fun and just loving great country music. That was Arizona Pete's. We love
those kind of shows. A week later we were near home doing a small, but amazing, show at
Breaker's in Colonial Heights. The south side really loved the show and we can't wait to get
back to the joint. Powhatan was next for their annual steer roast and Mechanicsville was the
day after with Confederate Railroad. We had a great time with Danny and the guys and wish them
much success in the years to come.
After the amazing run in April we were back at Richmond International Raceway to perform 2
shows. Now talk about fans and their love for NASCAR and country music. We were at the right
place. Thanks Frances, Ashley and Shannon for all of your hard work. Never have we seen so
many interesting and fun-loving people. Here's to the lady with the amazing dance moves! Oh
yeah, a round of applause also goes out to Kasey Kahne and Elliot Sadler for their help in the
event. Good luck throughout 2006 guys!
Alright folks, that about wraps up things for the time being. A lot of great shows remain for
May and we'll be back to tell you all about them. And we'll keep you posted on other fun
things like Robby's expensive pants! Bling-bling!
04-13-2006 We're in Greensboro, NC. Where are you?
Good tidings to all! Tonight, tomorrow and Saturday we will be here, in Greensboro North
Carolina, rocking Arizona Pete's for 3 great days. The weather is beautiful, Mike has got us
up and running and we're ready for an excellent time.
It's been a little while since we last wrote so we trust that everyone is well. We've been
busy getting new original songs together, performing new shows and just getting back to the
country music game. We've got some really exciting shows to tell you about soon so stay in
touch! Big names are on the bill with us and we can't be more pleased with the dates.
We've got to run and get ready for the big shows this weekend so stay safe and by all means,
have fun! Happy Easter everyone and we'll see you in your city real soon!
03-31-2006 Just a Few Thoughts For the Day
We were just sitting around talking about a few things and we wanted to bring these questions
up. Remember the statement; Why do you park in a driveway and drive on a parkway? Well, here
are some more to that logical thinking. Just a few thoughts:
1. If 4 out of 5 people suffer from diarrhea does that mean that 1 person enjoys it?
2. Shouldn't the defintion for asteroids and hemorrhoids be switched?
3. If the Jacksonville Jaguars are called "the Jags" and the Tampa Bay Bucaneers are called
"the Bucs" what are the Tennessee Titans called?
4. If you go to bed at 12am would you say Good Night?
5. How many licks does it actually take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?
Enjoy!
03-24-2006 A New Club for Cedar Creek: The Pub
Hey ya'll! We're hanging out in Harrisonbrug, Virginia at a well known place called The Pub
very near to JMU. Man, the view from up here in the hills is great!
Chuck and Dave welcomed us as we strolled in and the place looked pretty cool. Nestled behind
some hotels, gas stations and a few restaurants, The Pub looks like the happening place in
Harrisonburg, VA. With a capacity of around 700 people this place was sure to have a crowd for
us tonight and we know that we work great with crowds. The more people the more fun that we all
will have.
We took the stage at 10pm, a little worried of how the crowd was going to react becasue hey,
we're country. But the night went well from the first song. Folks were dancing, singing,
drinking and just having a great time. Excitement like this is what we live for when we are
playing. The more the better and these folks at The Pub had it. What a cool place!
Thanks for welcoming us to your town and we can't wait until next time. It's like Cedar
Creek meets Mayberry but hey, that's a good thing. It's always nice to pay a visit to
someplace like Mayberry. Thanks again everyone!
03-18-2006 Cattle Annie's, Cedar Creek and Josh Turner
What a FANTASTIC show! The show was SOLD OUT, parking was very limited and Cattle Annie's was
in an uproar of excitement once again.
We arrived around 3pm on a pretty nice and sunny day; far from the cold ones that we have had
in the past. I know there was a reason that we missed Spring. Upon our arrival we quickly got
in gear and started to prep for the show. You know the usual stuff; fix the hair, iron the
clothes, make sure that the nose hairs are all groomed, etc. Someone's got to look out for
the nose hairs!
Our sound check went according to plan and everything just started to roll right along. Show
time was at 8:00pm so we had a few hours to relax, grab some popcorn from the hotel and just
take it easy before the performance. It's always something having fans take pictures of you
while you're eating. No bother though, it's all fun for everyone!
As soon as we took the stage the crowd went nuts. We striked our first note and form then on
everyone, and we mean everyone, was singing right along with us. What a blast we had. We were
dancing, moving, singing and just putting on a great show. And it showed from the crowd
response. If the place was any louder you would defintely be hearing impaired for a few days.
WYYD was there to celebrate as was WVHL, 92.9 FM Kickin' Country in Farmville. During our
performance and right before Defenseless, WVHL came onto the stage to present us with the
Kickn' Country Most Requested Song award for February; our current hit Defenseless. It was a
great honor to have been in the top with the likes of Trace Adkins, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill,
Josh Turner and others. Here's to you; all of our great fans! This is what we strive for anf
this is just the beginning of a great ride.
Our performance ended well with The Jerk and we couldn't have asked for a better night. Josh
Turner was a great artist to hang out with and we know that we will be seeing more of him
soon. Thanks everyone for a great night! Back on the road again and we're ready for a new
club next week in Harrisonburg, VA. Check out The Pub and make plans to be there and support
the CC tour.
03-17-2006 St. Patrick's Day at Outlaws Bar and Grill
May the luck of the Irish be with you when you drink, have fun and pass out! Don't be alarmed
when you pee green though. It's all part of the fun and festivities for a happy St. Patty's
Day! Thanks to all that could make it and thanks to Doug and Tammy for taking so good care of
us. We las are the lucky charms tonight! Kiss my Blarney Stone!
03-10-2006 We're at Cancun Cantina!
Hey everyone! We're coming to you live from Baltimore, Maryland. Tonight and tomorrow we'll
be live at Cancun Cantina, a great club with great times! This club is always fun to play but
it's been a while since we've been here. Our last visit was in 2004. We would have been back
sooner but man, the schedule is full!
So, we've all been pretty good. Some exciting things are coming our way and hopefully your
way too. We are at the beginning staages of our next CD and some cool shows are popping up all
over. So, stay tuned and you'll get the scoop soon.
Did we mention that our song, Defenseless, is getting some great airplay out there? It was
recently named most requested song for the month of February on the 5 o'clock request show at
WVHL 92.9 FM "Kickin' Country" in Farmville, Virginia. We are going to be presented with a
plaque at the Cattle Annie's show with Josh Turner next week. We would love to see you there
and keep those requests coming!
Well, it's time to relax and kick back for a few hours before we hit Cancun Cantina. Thanks
for all of the support and we'll see you soon at the next show.
